the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations by…..

Gaining
recognition of the Kaipara as a natural resource of international
significance

Promoting
the establishment of a single management body for the Kaipara Harbour, its
foreshores and environs.

Gaining
recognition of the entire Kaipara estuarine environment as one
environmental catchment, inter-dependant on its hinterland, thuds
acknowledging the interrelationship of its parts and the interaction of
physical and intrinsic biological processes.

Preserving, conserving, protecting and enhancing natural heritage and
cultural resources of the Kaipara Harbour environment.

Defending
the Harbour against harm, mis-use, depletion, unsustainable use and
degradation.

The
protection of archilogical and historic sites, waahi tapu and sites of
cultural significance.

The
enhancement and protection of the fauna and flora values and ecosystems of
inland waters.
-
The
protection and preservation of the internationally recognised feeding and
nesting grounds of bird life that inhabit or migate to and from the
Kaipara.
